The Landsheckt was designed in response to a RFP from Duke Morgan Kell in early 3067 to provide a low cost 'mech for Mercenary and planetary militia units. The Landsheckt is Weiserian's first design, and much of the corporation's operating capital is locked up in the 'Mech. It is felt that should the Kell Hounds buy the licenseing rights, they can use the capital generated to sell the design to the AFFS, especially to militia units in the Draconis March recovering from the devastation of the recent civil war.

The Landsheckt is based on a enlarged and strengthened Thunderbolt chassis. With a 6.5 million C-Bill cost limit, many of the componants had to be off the shelf items. The mech has a top speed of 64kph, which is considered slow by contemporary standards, but it's standard fusion engine, with the machine gun ammunition protected by CASE, the mech is far less vulnerable to to destruction and loss than many more modern designs, which adds to it's cost effectiveness. The Gauss Rifle is in the right arm, which adds to survivability of the mech and increases the potential arc of fire of the mech's Gauss Rifle. The laser fit is advanced technology, which adds to the capability of the mech. Repairs are a snap, with semi-modular quick-change mounts for all weapons systems and major components cut repair times by 25%. The machine guns were added as a means of anti-infantry defense, but the ammunition is limited. The hachet was added to give the mech a real punch at close range and make the mech fit in well with the plethora of Axemen and Hachetmen in the AFFS militia system.

While none are officaly being produced at this time, confidential engineering studies are commencing to study several both higher and lower tech variants to sales to both the great houses and the Chaos March.

The protoype, as of this writing, is undergoing testing by the Kell Hounds on Arc-Royal.
